Acorns Children's Hospice are looking for a highly organised and motivated Challenge Events Officer to support the delivery of our fundraising events programme.  This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role, where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our events run smoothly and our supporters have an excellent experience from sign-up through to event day and beyond.

About the Role

At Acorns Children’s Hospice we offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands. We are there wherever and whenever they need us, in the hospice, community and at home. As the UK’s largest children’s hospice charity, in terms of both numbers of children and families supported, and annual expenditure on our care work- we need to raise more than £14 million each year to run and support our care services.

As Challenge Events Officer, you will:

  • Manage participant administration for fundraising events from sign-up to post-event follow-up
  • Work across a range of exciting events, from major third-party challenges like marathons and runs, to Acorns’ own events and international challenges.
  • Support supporters throughout their journey, helping them stay motivated and on track with fundraising
  • Keep accurate records using our CRM system and producing reports
  • Coordinate event logistics, including registrations, communications, and timelines
  • Support the delivery of events on the day, including set-up and pack-down
  • Transport event materials and equipment to and from events
  • Work closely with teams across fundraising, marketing, and finance

This role is primarily office-based and administrative (around 70 – 80% of your time), focusing on participant management, communications, and coordination, alongside supporting event delivery on the day.

About You

  • Experience (paid or unpaid) within fundraising
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail with experience managing administrative tasks with accuracy (e.g. databases, spreadsheets, or systems)
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines, with strong time management skills
  • Confident communicating with supporters via email and phone
  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer/supporter experiences
  • Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new systems
  • Keen to learn and develop your career in events fundraising

This role would suit someone who:

  • Enjoys structure, organisation, and working with processes
  • Takes pride in delivering high-quality work behind the scenes
  • Is happy balancing desk-based work with event day support

This role may not be suitable for someone looking for a primarily creative event planning role or a senior/strategic position.
