Acorns Children's Hospice are excited to offer a brand-new Finance Business Partner role, to partner with teams across our fundraising and retail directorates, leading on financial strategy, forecasting and budgeting.  You'll have the opportunity to shape the financial culture within these departments, influencing financial decisions and driving initiatives that ensure efficient resource allocation, and long-term success.

About the Role

Acorns is currently the UK’s largest children’s hospice charity, in terms of both numbers of children and families supported and annual expenditure on our care work.  We need to raise more than £11 million each year to run and support our care services and we rely heavily on the goodwill and generosity of our local community. 

As Finance Business Partner, you will

  • Provide confidential and expert support to the services, advising and influencing on complex matters that deliver sound financial governance
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of service activity drivers to quantify income and expenditure projections 
  • Enable service leads to manage the finance aspects of their service in a commercial environment
  • Manage the annual budgetary cycle, resulting in the entablement of a robust financial plan
  • Manage and review the preparation of business plans, looking forward up to 36 months ahead
  • Constructively challenge budgetary decisions highlighting potential risks and further opportunities
  • Carry out post implementation reviews once a business case has been approved and implemented 

About You

  • CCAB qualified
  • Post qualification experience in a business partnering environment
  • Expert knowledge in reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience of financial planning, reporting and variance analysis
  • Experience of supporting monthly management accounts production
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with ability to present credible arguments to senior employees
