Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is seeking a passionate and dynamic Community Shop Manager for our Kings Heath Shop. In this pivotal role, you will lead a dedicated team of volunteers, achieve set targets, and uphold the highest standards of retail excellence—all while making a meaningful difference in the lives of local children and their families. You’ll work 37.5 hours per week, including some weekends.

About Us: Acorns Children's Hospice is a leading children's charity providing specialist palliative nursing care and support for over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families each year, including those who are bereaved. Our network of charity shops across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire plays a crucial role in funding this vital care.

About the Role: As the Community Shop Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of creating an engaging and vibrant shopping experience that sets Acorns apart. Your entrepreneurial spirit will drive you to make local decisions regarding stock quality, pricing, and merchandising style. You’ll lead and inspire a team of volunteers to maintain these standards while maximizing every sales opportunity through data-driven decisions and trend analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Inspire: Motivate and manage a team of volunteers, fostering a positive and productive environment.
  • Sales Maximization: Utilize sales reports to identify trends and make informed decisions that boost revenue and enhance customer experience.
  • Community Engagement: Proactively assess and seize opportunities to integrate the shop into the local community, ensuring it becomes a cherished local resource.
  • Operational Excellence: Uphold high standards of stock management, pricing strategies, and merchandising.

About You:

  • Charity Retail Experience: Proven experience in charity retail management, with a track record of achieving targets and understanding the unique aspects of charity retail operations.
  • Retail Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, ensuring everyone feels valued and engaged.
  • IT Proficiency: Comfortable using technology for sales reporting and inventory management.
  • Community Focused: A commitment to embedding the shop within the local community and understanding its unique dynamics.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and engage in significant manual handling.
  • Travel Capability: Ability to travel independently to cover shops in the area as needed.
