Acorns Children's Hospice Trust are looking for a Hospital In-Reach Clinical Nurse Specialist to enable a collaborative approach to palliative care provision for known Acorns families that are admitted to hospital. 

About the Role

At Acorns Children’s Hospice we offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands. We are there wherever and whenever they need us, in the hospice, community and at home. Our aim at Acorns is to help families feel equipped to cope at every stage of their child’s life with dedicated teams offering psychological, emotional and practical support. 

As Hospital In-Reach Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will:

  • act as the Acorns key point of contact for hospitals regarding care delivery for known Acorns families, providing clinical expertise in palliative, end of life and bereavement care
  • work across acute, community and hospice settings to identify and provide specialist high-quality support for all babies, children and young people 
  • develop and extend the palliative care nursing role across hospital sites in response to changing healthcare needs and advances in clinical practice
  • assess and evaluate all care delivery and service provision

About You

  • RSCN/RN (Child)
  • Paediatric Palliative Care Qualification or willing to work towards
  • Experience of acute and community care, including support of children with complex and technological care needs
  • Experience of supporting children and families at the end of life

What We Offer 

  • £40,000 to £50,000 per annum
  • 37.5 hours per week, Mon – Fri, with (occasional evenings and weekends may be required)
  • Based in Acorns Birmingham Hospice (B29 6HZ), with travel to hospital setting and community

You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references.
