Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust are excited to be opening a brand new charity superstore in Chelmsley Wood.  We're looking for a Deputy Manager to support with the opening of the new store, from finding volunteers and stock to merchandising before the grand opening.  You’ll work 22.5 hours per week, including some weekend working.

About the Role

Acorns Children's Hospice are a children's charity, offering specialist palliative nursing care and support for local children and their families.  Every year, we support over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.  We have a network of charity shops across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire, which help to provide the funds that we need to provide this care.

As Deputy Superstore Manager of our soon-to-open store, you’ll:

  • join us on the journey to opening, recruiting your team of volunteers, sourcing donated stock and organising the store
  • create an exciting shop floor experience that makes Acorns stand out from our competitors
  • help to make decisions about the quality of stock, levels of pricing and style of merchandising
  • maximise every sales opportunity available, reviewing sales reports and making decisions based on the data and trends these reports show
  • manage collections and deliveries of furniture and large items

About You

  • Retail experience and experience of working towards targets
  • Experience of leading and motivating a team 
  • IT skills
  • Happy to work weekends
  • Enjoy a role that involves significant levels of manual handling
  • Ability to coordinate a schedule of deliveries and collections
